Chapter 135: Unexpected Visitors
Chapter 135: Unexpected Visitors
Raiden blushed a little as she fed him an apple with her own hands. For a moment, he didn’t know what to do before he decided to be shameless and open his mouth to eat it.

"Good boy!~" Isadora praised him with a teasing smile on her face.
"Bai Zang! Tell me about Bai Zang. What do you mean he is missing??" Raiden ignored her words as he questioned her.
"Exactly as it sounds like. After I followed you deep into the jungle, I wasn’t able to find any trace of you, just a large group of Terra Beasts. I came back to the base and tried to use your contact module to track you down. But that’s when I found out it had been tampered with by unknown people. Tracking that down, I was able to narrow another group of people who were after you. They had infiltrated the base much deeper than those thugs from the underworld. I had to do a lot of digging to find them all out. By the time I figured out Bai Zang was the mastermind, he had already run away from the base. We have been trying to find his traces, but we got nothing."
Raiden fell silent for a moment as he processed all this information.
"So you are telling me there are two different groups of people after me. One is from the underworld, the unknown one is Bai Zang. I think I know the motive of why the people from the underworld were after me, but why did that squinty-eyed bastard come after me? I don’t remember offending him or his group." Raiden felt a little confused.
"We can’t figure it out right now, but when he does inevitably show up again, you can ask him yourself. I have the feeling it is not the last time he will try to kill you. As for the person in the underworld, he has gone deep into hiding, but my Solaris clan isn’t to be messed with that easily. As long as you say the word, we will raze his entire underground Empire down."
Isadora’s eyes had a look of resolve and confidence as if she wasn’t talking about killing hundreds of people, but a trivial thing. That was the confidence she possessed.
Raiden fell silent as he processed her words. He knew she was very serious about this. As long as he said anything, the threat that is looming over his head will vanish entirely in a night. That was the power the Solaris clan, the undisputed Kings of the City, held.
He debated internally for a minute before he started speaking once again.
"Thank you for the offer, but you don’t need to get involved. It’s my problem, and I intend to solve it completely by myself. "
Hearing the answer, a smile broke out on Isadora’s face. She was very satisfied with this answer. If he had asked for help, she would definitely have taken action against the perpetrators and rooted them out, but it would also have lowered Raiden’s valuation in her eyes.
Hearing he wanted to take the revenge himself made her feel she had picked out a correct and strong son-in-law. A man who doesn’t dare to take revenge for himself is not a real man.
"Alright, that’s enough for today. You go and get some rest. I’ll check on you tomorrow. Take care, my dear son-in-law~"
Isadora left the room, leaving Raiden alone. He tried to fall asleep on the bed, even changing his position multiple times, but try as he might, he wasn’t able to find any sleep. It felt like something was missing.
After struggling for a few minutes, he got up and walked over to the other side, where Neva and Woolie had fallen asleep.
He climbed onto their bed and hugged them tightly before he felt at peace as the darkness claimed him.

The next morning, Raiden welcomed some unexpected visitors.
"Newbie!! You are finally back. I was really worried about you!!"
"Oh my god, Raiden!! Thank God you came back. I was really worried sick. It’s my fault. I should have gone with you on that mission. If we did, maybe you wouldn’t have fallen into the trap."
"Raiden’s back. Good. Sydney is happy."
Raiden looked at the faces of John, Jonah, and Sydney, who had come to visit him first thing in the morning, and his heart warmed up a little.
"Hehe, it’s good to see you guys as well. You don’t need to worry about me, as you can see, I am great." Raiden said cheerfully as he greeted them.
"Nonsense. You don’t look great at all. If anything, you look like you have walked out of a war zone, okay?? Damn that Bai Zang!! That traitor!!" John gritted his teeth in hatred, making the atmosphere freeze a little.
After a few seconds, Raiden broke the silence first.
"You guys know about him?"
"Yes, we know. Brother Bai Zang— I meant that traitor. I never expected him to do something like this. And he was so nice to all of us. Don’t worry, Raiden, if we find him, we will get justice for you." Jonah spoke as she patted his shoulder as she shook her little fist in anger.
"Yes. Sydney will get justice for Raiden. Don’t worry." Sydney spoke from the side as she nodded with a tough look on her face.
"It’s fine, guys, it’s fine. You don’t need to worry too much about him. I will take care of him myself. Meanwhile, tell me, how are you? Did anything change at the base? Who is the new leader now?"
Hearing his last question, John lifted his head up and puffed out his chest in confidence.
"Ahem-ahem. Our new leader for platoon four is Big Brother John." Jonah spoke from the side, trying her best to stifle her laughter while John’s face was filled with the look that screamed, ’Praise me!!’
"What?! Him?! Well, it was nice knowing you guys. The future of Platoon 4 is doomed."
"Hey, newbie!! What do you mean by that?! I am a great leader, okay?! The best one!! Platoon 4 will become the strongest one under my leadership, just wait and see!!"
"Pfft—hahahahaha."
"Hey, why are you all laughing? I am your leader, damn it!! Take me a little more seriously."
All three of them laughed even harder as Raiden spent the morning in such a cheerful atmosphere.
