Chapter 137: How Much?!
Chapter 137: How Much?!
Just a few minutes after the sentence left, Isadora walked into the room with a strange expression on her face.
"It looks like you are okay now, brat. Here, catch!" She tossed something in the air, which Raiden caught instinctively before freezing in his tracks.
He had a device that he had never seen before, and from what he could understand, it felt like a whole lot out of his budget. The device, which looked like a phone, was made entirely of white and yellow gold and used diamonds for buttons on the side.
"What is this?"
"This is the latest military-grade phone by Stormwind Family. It can withstand attacks by platinum and has satellite connectivity, so no matter where you go, you will not get lost again like this time. I have taken the liberty of transferring all your data and numbers to this phone since you lost your old one." Isadora explained as she made herself comfortable by sitting in a chair next to him, crossing her legs against each other, looking completely at ease.
"You know, since you have healed, you can take a leave from here and go back home anytime." She said while stretching a little bit, making the fabric in her blouse tighten. Raiden almost got a nosebleed looking at her before he quickly turned his head away while he chanted scriptures in his mind.
’Can’t think like that about her. Think of Naked old wrinkly grandma, naked old wrinkly grandma, naked old wrinkly grandma.’
His face turned into one of disgust as he imagined it too hard, losing all the heat that rose up from within him. Isadora just smirked after seeing his reaction. He was still a young man at heart after all.
"You know, I also want to get out of here, but there is a big problem. I still haven’t collected enough Alliance Points and fulfilled my purpose of coming here. Can you loan me some Alliance points? I will pay you back later." Raiden spoke as he looked directly into her eyes, not daring to let his eyes roam around anywhere else.
A strange expression appeared on Isadora’s face after she heard his request.
"Hmm? What’s wrong? Is that not allowed or forbidden by the military or something?" Raiden asked in confusion.
"No, no, nothing like that. While it is forbidden by the military, I am the commander of this base, I can bend some rules easily. It’s just that...you might not even need to take a loan from me." Looking at the increasingly strange expression on their face, Raiden started to feel uneasy.
"Huh? What do you mean by that?"
"Well, remember the contact module you were wearing on your hand? It’s not only responsible for showing you the map or contacting the base, but it is also responsible for recording all your merits and achievements and how many Terra Beasts you have slain so far. While it was tampered with and it didn’t let you contact the base, all its other functionalities were working during the entire time you were away."
Here, in her words, Raiden’s eyes widened in realisation.
"You mean...?"
"Yes. It recorded every single Terra beast you have killed during the time you were away. And the total is the highest a Silver-ranked has ever achieved on the base." Isadora finished speaking, and she looked at him like he was some kind of alien. She was truly shocked by the number of Terrans that fell at his hand. This record looked more like someone of an extremely strong Gold Tier Battle Master or even a Platinum one.
This just made her more confident in the decision she had taken to invest in him. It was completely worth it.
"How much?! How much did I earn??" Raiden asked with a faint feeling of anticipation in his heart. He had lost count of how many Terra Beasts he had fallen by his hands, but it was definitely more than a thousand.
"You have a total of...394,621 Alliance Points. That is the highest I have seen for a newbie." Isadora finished speaking, but Raiden had already stopped hearing her words after hearing that humongous number.
His mind went completely blank at this unexpected fortune. This was enough, this was more than enough. He could even buy things that he only dared to dream about.
"Hahahaha!! I am rich, I am extremely rich!!! Hahahaha!!!" He let out an arrogant laugh, completely lost in his daydream, ignoring Isadora, who had an irritated look on her face.
"All right, brat. Just pipe down. It’s not even that much. I can earn that in a single day. After you spend it on the things you need, it will be gone by more than half." Isadora cut in from the side, pouring cold water all over Raiden’s dreams.
But he recovered a second later, with a gigantic smile on his face.
"Hey, that is fine. I don’t want a lot of things anyway. This will completely let me go home and farm in peace." Raiden replied with a gigantic smile on his face. After that experience in the jungle, he was done with this place, and he didn’t want to stay a minute longer if he could help it.
Hearing his answer, Isadora couldn’t help but ask the burning question in her heart.
"Do you really want to go back and farm? I know all about your debt situation. You can just sell that place and be done with it. You can go to Archon Academy and pursue the heights of human power. You can become extremely strong in the future, looking over all of humanity. You can even meet peers who are as strong as you. Do you truly not want to pursue that glamorous life and stay at a small-time farm in a backwards place like this?"
Raiden fell silent for a moment after hearing her question before he replied with a smile.
"Yes, I am completely sure that path is not for me. I am content and happy staying right here at the farm and living peacefully."
He still hadn’t forgotten the burdens and the invisible dangers surrounding him: The Ashen Bloodline in Sylvia, his parents’ disappearance, and Ruby being Mythical Tier. All such dangers were constantly weighing on his mind, forcing him to play catch-up and get stronger desperately.
Hearing his answer and feeling the genuineness in his tone, Isadora didn’t push the issue further as she stood up.
"Well, it’s your choice. I’ll be leaving now. Let me know when you want to get out of here. Oh, by the way, Morgana contacted me and asked, Where have you disappeared, and why haven’t you called her in a month? Good luck in dealing with her." Isadora left with a smirk on her face, leaving a frozen Raiden behind.
’Oh shit, I am so fucked.’
