Chapter 214 Resurrected from a Nightmare

The 114514th baby was born.

Krypton has completed one revolution around the sun.

Through repeated deaths, the newborn babies cloned from the surviving DNA tissues become increasingly strong and agile, possessing a physique close to that of an average adult from birth.

At first, Joey could only survive for a few seconds in harsh environments, but now, thanks to his increasingly powerful "initial attributes," he can extend his survival time to one minute.

This time, however, it was completely different. After skillfully opening the hatch with one foot and repelling the attacking Blade Rock Spiny Lizard, Joey landed, his soles scraping bloodstains on the sharp rocky ground.

He continued running forward, breathing heavily in the highly toxic gases of Krypton's atmosphere—because not breathing would only hasten his death.

This time, however, he no longer felt the burning pain in his chest.

After countless deaths, his new body finally overcame Krypton's highly toxic atmosphere.

Before he could even take a few more breaths of "fresh air," the ferocious and hungry prehistoric creature pounced on him, slashing its tail and instantly decapitating Joey.

If we're talking about the advantages of Kryptonian creatures, then in Joey's opinion, the most important one is their desire for and respect for food.

These predators, living in harsh environments, know how hard it is to obtain food, and they always kill their prey swiftly and without reservation in the first instance, which saves Joey a lot of suffering from being eaten.

But the memory of his respiratory system being scorched by the atmosphere and his chest, head, and neck being pierced by exoskeleton spikes was still vividly repeated tens of thousands of times in Joey's memory.

Each death resulted in a new individual being cloned from the collected DNA tissue, each one stronger and more adaptable than the last. In just one year, this individual had already traversed millions of years of evolutionary history for the ancient nitrogen planet's organisms.

"That's enough!"

I don't know how many times it roared, as if this endless cycle of being killed would never end.

This time, however, Yang Yi, completely enraged, finally opened his eyes, his blood-red heat vision surging forth from them.

Batman, who was already prepared, activated his Infiltrator armor, and the wrist components transformed into Wonder Woman's protective silver bracelets:

"Activate Truth Mode!"

Even after the Inside Man armor absorbed most of the rays, Batman was still pushed against the ceiling by the remaining force of the rays, creating a large crater in the bronze-cast metal interlayer, before finally slamming onto the floor with a thud due to gravity.

He had just kicked the volunteer Iron Man off the hospital bed and put Joey on it. After some research, Batman found the cause of Joey's coma.

At the same time, they also sensed that Joey's biofield and emotional fluctuations were rising steadily, and immediately prepared to deal with the unconscious Kryptonian's sudden outburst.

With Tony's help, Batman groaned and, ignoring Tony's hand, got up on his own.

It wasn't that he considered himself full of lone heroism and was unwilling to accept help from strangers, but rather that his gauntlets were currently storing trillions of units of energy, enough to split the aircraft carrier he was on in two if they were to explode.

It's best to keep such hands away from outsiders for now.

Having regained consciousness, Joey was panting heavily, trying to calm the emotions brought back from the "nightmare": "How long was I unconscious?"

As his head buzzed, he strained to peel the terrible, dreamlike memory from his mind, lest it disrupt his calm thoughts.

Why?

"You were unconscious for less than ten minutes."

Thinking Joey was Batman asking about the cause of his unconsciousness, he pulled a familiar object from his belt and showed it to Joey:

"Because of this."

That was the leaden box he had lent to Joey before, containing a powerful kryptonite.

A lead box of this size cannot completely shield against all the radiation from kryptonite, which is why Batman was able to locate Joey so quickly.

The problem is that Batman knew the Kryptonian in front of him was immune to Kryptonite, which is why he dared to give Joey this deadly weapon—a weapon that would kill a Kryptonian with just a glance.

However, at some point and for some unknown reason, Joey's immunity to Kryptonite temporarily failed.

Wearing the kryptonite close to his body for extended periods caused Joey to develop complications from nitrogen radiation, including organ failure, sensory degeneration, and loss of consciousness.

After being drenched in sweat from the nightmare of being killed countless times, Joey took another deep breath of the sweet Earth air. After sorting through the memories that shouldn't exist, he quickly realized what was going on.

"I know when and why—it was after I drove away Galactus that I used the Ultimate Eraser."

The ultimate eraser of Galactus perfectly fulfilled the weapon user's wish; it truly erased Doomsday from the level of existence, annihilating it completely under the power of entropy.

The complete disappearance of the Day of Destruction naturally took away some of its adaptability.

Even through the mask, the two people present could see Batman's furrowed brow:

"How did things get so bad?"

For the Batman of the past, the sudden appearance of a Kryptonian immune to Kryptonite would have been enough to keep him up at night.

With a storm brewing, Joey's sudden loss of immunity has made him even more anxious and unable to eat or sleep.

"From a physical standpoint, it's not as bad as you think."

Having completed his internal vision, Joey could sense that his own Kryptonian bio-field had never reached such a high level, making him stronger than ever before.

So much so that Joey, in his excellent physical condition, currently has the illusion that he can hold up the entire universe.

Having carefully avoided the six interlocking traps, Joey reached into Batman's waist and retrieved the lead box containing the kryptonite.

Then, amidst Batman's exclamation, a hole was torn open in it.

A pale green light shone from the cracks in the box, shining directly on Joey.

Nothing happened.

The desensitizing effect of Kryptonite radiation on the biofield of Kryptonians is an extremely complex and sophisticated reaction, and even the once technologically advanced Kryptonians could not devise a suitable solution.

However, this immunity reappeared in Joey within just a few minutes.

The wavelength of the biofield perfectly canceled out the radiation from the kryptonite, which was harmful or even fatal to both humans and Kryptonians, but in Joey's eyes it became just a slightly dazzling light.

During that brief period of unconsciousness, the memories Joey experienced were not those of Kal'El, but rather those of another Kryptonian creation.

A day of destruction.

It was born in a mad experiment on the ancient planet Krypton, where the same individual was killed one after another and reborn with the remnants of its death.

Repeating this process dozens or hundreds of times might be considered torture, but after repeating it ten thousand or a hundred thousand times, all that remains is instinct.

Even Joey doesn't know how many times that experiment was repeated; he only knows it must have been incredibly long.

The long dream I just experienced was merely the tip of the iceberg when it was born. It took 100,000 deaths to become immune to Krypton's toxic air. So how many deaths would it take to achieve the final result?

Each death is stronger than the last, until after a near-infinite cycle, what is born is naturally the ultimate creature that is completely immune to death.

Even the Ultimate Eraser, a concept-level weapon capable of killing Galactus himself, failed to completely kill a twisted creation like Doomsday. Joey closed the lead box containing Kryptonite, putting the culprit that had caused his recent unconsciousness back into his waistband—Kryptonite could no longer pose any threat to him.

Because Doomsday still lives in Joey's memory, and will live on forever.

Then, it will return to reality from such a memory.

Just like now, I'm one with Joey again.
