Chapter 1873 - 1870: Ashes

"You’re doing this on purpose." Lin Tian glared sideways at Xu Feibai, this guy jumped right in front of him, clearly intending to lure the Black Water King Snake over.

"I came to ask for your help, can’t let you be too idle, right?" Xu Feibai didn’t deny it and responded shamelessly.

As they spoke, the Black Water King Snake had already lunged mid-air, its enormous bloodthirsty mouth big enough to swallow both of them whole, not even enough to fill the gaps between its teeth.

"Meteor Burst!"

Lin Tian certainly didn’t like the feeling of being treated as food. A punch with Meteor Burst smashed towards the snake’s lower jaw, and Xu Feibai also struck simultaneously, the combined power of two zombies hitting hard.

BOOM...

A loud explosion, the massive body of the Black Water King Snake was shockingly blasted back, a beast dozens of times the size of two people being sent flying, this visual contrast was incredibly stunning.

With a thud, the snake fell into the deep pool, causing countless waves, and the whole space surged into a downpour, soaking Lin Tian and Xu Feibai once again.

"Let’s go, it’s too time-consuming and laborious to kill it, and there’s no benefit." Lin Tian beckoned, leaped towards the rock wall, and then jumped several times to climb up the waterfall.

He just wanted to give Xu Feibai a hard time, otherwise, this guy always had that "I’m your senior" attitude, even though Xu Feibai had indeed lived for several hundred more years, Lin Tian never really considered him a "senior."

Xu Feibai was also unwilling to waste time on the Black Water King Snake, following Lin Tian as they jumped and dodged, quickly reaching the top of the waterfall. The Black Water King Snake was unwilling, leaping out of the water, attempting to climb up the waterfall to chase the two intruding "enemies."

But a huge dark iron chain clanged straight, pulling it back mercilessly; the poor Black Water King Snake fell again, only able to watch as the "enemies" left.

As they walked away, Lin Tian could still hear restless and agitated growls behind him.

"The Black Water King Snake is actually chained in the deep pool!" Xu Feibai shook the water off his hair, full of surprise.

Lin Tian kept it simple, violet flames rose from his palm, swirling around, drying his clothes instantly. Xu Feibai could only feel envy, jealousy, and resentment.

"If I’m not mistaken, the Black Water King Snake is locked here by some powerful person, the purpose is to guard the Ice Cavern behind." Lin Tian speculated.

Xu Feibai frowned, curiosity in his eyes: "Ice Cavern?"

"Yes, at the end of the Underground River further inside, there’s an Ice Cavern, frozen year-round, with rare Xuanbing. Ice Soul was discovered inside. It’s strange though, the cave aside from Blue Snake Grass and Ice Soul Necklace being precious, has no other treasures, why have such a large King Snake to guard it?"

Lin Tian was also puzzled, those two things weren’t worth having a Black Water King Snake guard, no, two giant snakes actually, there’s another Blue Snake.

Listening to Lin Tian, Xu Feibai’s frown deepened, increasingly certain of one thing, the Black Water King Snake isn’t guarding the Blue Snake Grass, but protecting something else far more important.

Speeding up again, two shadows flickered across the Underground Riverbank, soon reaching the end of the Underground River. Here was another pool, but not very deep, rather crystal clear.

Last time when he came, there were terrifying waterweeds growing underwater, but Lin Tian had cleared them all, only leaving some seedlings sent to the Xiao Family laboratory, unknown if they’ve cultivated successfully.

"Follow me." Lin Tian commanded and jumped into the pool, the water was cold, due to it connecting with the Ice Cavern, the temperature was particularly low.

Yet, both of them could endure, Lin Tian quickly found the underwater entrance, last time concealed by waterweeds, this time without them, much easier.

Beyond the entrance was a narrow waterway, the diameter indicating the Blue Snake was much smaller than the Black Water King Snake, but what its combat prowess was like, no one knew.

Last time, the Blue Snake chased Lin Tian and Charlotte to the deep pool, battled the Black Water King Snake, the outcome unknown.

At least the Black Water King Snake was still alive, and very well, indicating its combat ability rivalled the Blue Snake; otherwise, it would’ve long been killed by the Blue Snake.

As they pressed onward, the water temperature dropped steadily, with a splash, Lin Tian emerged from another small pool, as soon as he came ashore, the water on him instantly froze, soft fabric turned into "armor."

Xu Feibai shook his whole body, shattering the ice into frost, Lin Tian once more summoned the violet flames, drying his clothes instantly again. It was Xu Feibai’s first time here, he carefully observed his surroundings, everything was sparkling ice, knocking on it with ringing sounds, as if steel.

"Stop knocking, Xuanbing is indeed hard, but it can’t withstand your strength, be careful it collapses and buries us alive." Lin Tian saw Xu Feibai acting like a curious baby, knocking everywhere, couldn’t help but speak.

From Xu Feibai’s expression and behaviour, he clearly was a first-time witness of such an Underground Ice Cave.

Moving forward, through winding ice tunnels, Lin Tian led Xu Feibai into a huge ice cavern filled with Blue Snake Grass, large enough for several basketball courts.

In the centre of the space, there was a pool, surrounded by unique plants, entirely deep blue, exceptionally captivating.

However, their attention was immediately drawn to something else, in the deepest part of the ice cavern, Xuanbing scattered across the ground, a hole appeared on the cave wall.

Xu Feibai’s face changed, rushing over, upon seeing the situation inside the hole, his face darkened even more. Lin Tian walked over, understanding why his expression had changed so drastically.

In the cave wall, a large piece of Xuanbing was missing, the gap shaped as a rectangle, suit for placing a "coffin." Lin Tian had seen jade coffins, intuitively they matched in shape.

Xu Feibai reached out, touching the missing Xuanbing, thin blood mist seeped from his fingers, seemingly feeling something.

After a while, Xu Feibai suddenly sighed: "It’s indeed the aura of Ice Soul, but we came too late."

"Is it really an Ice Soul Coffin?" Lin Tian was extremely surprised, such a large piece of Ice Soul, how extravagant and wasteful, if the Situ family knew, they would go mad.

The Situ family had always desired the Ice Soul, to reforge their Qixue Sword.

Xu Feibai nodded sternly: "Two rays of light appeared during the Blood Moon night, I had a bad premonition, unexpectedly, this seal has also been broken, the Ice Soul Coffin taken by someone."

"Who on earth?" Xu Feibai’s eyes narrowed slightly, hidden within confusion lay danger.

Lin Tian carefully examined the surroundings, noticed black ash sticking to the shattered Xuanbing on the ground, he bent down, picked some up, and brought it to his nose.

Xu Feibai furrowed his brow, questioning: "What are you doing?"

Lin Tian didn’t explain, directly placing the black ash under his nose: "Smell it yourself."

The zombies’ noses were keener than dogs, though Lin Tian disliked such a comparison, it was indeed true, Xu Feibai sniffed, understood immediately: "It’s the ashes from burning a talisman!"
